MAS, MASwings Offer Flight Ticket Discount to IHL (Tertiary Level) Students

MAS and MASwings Offer Package: 

• 25% discount on Domestic Flight (1st September to 31st December 2012)

• 15% discount thereafter

• Given additional load limit of 10 kilograms of luggage for domestic flight

• Parents of university students will enjoy a discount of 10% of Domestic airline tickets to attend the induction ceremony and convocation

How: Student Identity Card & KADS1M must be presented at the time of purchase and photocopy of KADS1M Card must be attached to the issuing office coupon of the ticket. Students can buy ticket through Malaysia Airlines/MASWings Ticket Offices by cash or credit cards only.

MAS and MASwings have joined in the 1Malaysia Student Discount Card (KADS1M) Program to offer 15-25% discounts on flight tickets to students of public and private education institutions (IHL) who have the KADS1M. For those who study away from their hometown or want to travel around Malaysia, the card gives an added discount on domestic flights. There is even a 10% discount for parents’ domestic travel (to attend convocations / ceremonies) upon showing an invitation from the IHL.

We think the policy of having to purchase at ticket offices for the purposes of presenting the card (rather than online) is a little silly though, given that most flight tickets are bought online these days. Still if the discount is worth the trip then why not?

While the discount is certainly welcomed, its always good to check and compare the post-discount price with other carriers, in the event that MAS and MASwings flight tickets are still more expensive even after a discount of 25% (until this year end) or 15% thereafter.

Students and parents should still compare prices with other airlines not within the program (Firefly is also offering discounts under KADS1M) like AirAsia which usually comes out cheapest in the flight ticket stakes.
